Growing up in Rhode Island, I spent most of my time outdoors exploring. I remember exploring further and further from “home” and getting lost in the adventure. As I grew up I always felt a magnetic pull toward the beauty of the West. I learned about photography and was inspired by the likes of Ansel Easton Adams. There was something the Wests vast expanses and rugged charm that stirred a sense of wanderlust within me—a yearning to explore, to roam, to discover. I captured a version of the West in “Vistas: American West.”
After the upheaval of a global pandemic, I found myself at a crossroads, longing for a change of scenery and a taste of adventure. With remote work as my ally, I made a decision that would alter the course of my life: I packed my car and set forth on a journey across the expansive landscapes of the American West.
As I traversed the miles, each bend in the road brought with it a new revelation, a new opportunity for exploration. From the bustling streets of vibrant cities like LA to the serene majesty of national parks in Cater lake, I drank in the beauty of my surroundings, each moment a testament to the boundless wonder of the West.
But it wasn’t just about the destinations; it was about the journey itself—the freedom of the open road, the thrill of the unknown, the sense of possibility that hung in the air like a promise waiting to be fulfilled.
And so, against this backdrop of sweeping landscapes and boundless horizons, “Vistas: American West” was born—a photographic narrative of my journey through the heartland of America. Each image contained within its pages is a testament to the extraordinary moments that punctuated my adventure—a visual symphony of light and shadow, color and contrast, capturing the essence of a landscape both untamed and timeless.
But “Vistas: American West” is more than just a collection of photographs; it is a celebration of the spirit of adventure, a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us, and an invitation to embrace the unknown with open arms.
As I reflect on my journey and the creation of “Vistas: American West” I am filled with a sense of gratitude—for the experiences shared, the memories made, and the beauty that exists within our world. Whether flipping through the pages from the comfort of home or planning their own Westward adventure, I hope that “Vistas: American West” will inspire readers to seek out the beauty of the world around them, to embrace the spirit of adventure, and to create memories that will last a lifetime.
