Aloft Hotel- Stuttgart
The Aloft Stuttgart is in a very convenient location. It is located just one subway stop away from the central train station (Hauptbahnhof) which is also an easy walk if you don’t have too much luggage. The name of the subway stop is Stadtbibliotek which is the city library for you English speakers. The library is well worth a visit for its amazing architecture and is located right outside the hotel.
The hotel is just a few years old and is located in the Milaneo shopping center, Stuttgart’s largest shopping mall. We really enjoy being connected to the Milaneo because there are plenty of eating options since it has a relatively large food court. There is also a supermarket inside if you need supplies for the room. Just keep in mind that on Sundays in Germany, everything is closed.
The hotel is the same as all other Aloft hotels and a main feature is the bar and lobby area. The bar is called W XYZ and is usually very lively in the evening with not only hotel guests but also locals. There is often live music or a DJ. We have even stayed there in the past where Tango dance lessons were taking place!
The bar area definitely caters to a younger crowd with its eclectic décor. There is a billiard table as well as a separate room where guests can play video games.
There is also the kitchen and breakfast area where there is food and snacks available for purchase 24 hours a day. We never opt to pay extra for breakfast so can’t comment on the quality but from appearance it does not seem to be worth the extra money.
The bar, lobby, breakfast area, and reception all sort of blend together and in the past we have had some issues trying to check in at reception with no staff member in sight since they were working in the bar area. Lately, these issues seem to have been resolved and service is much better.
The room is definitely the highlight of the hotel! All the rooms we have stayed in have been large (for European standards) and very comfortable. Some rooms face an interior courtyard and others face a busy street but are completely quiet because of soundproofed windows.
We have always slept really well on very comfortable king size beds and enjoyed the large flat screen TVs. All rooms come with mini refrigerators that come in useful if you buy anything from the supermarket located in the same complex.
The bathroom is also nice with large walk in showers and very nice Bliss toiletries. Every room also has electric kettles and instant coffee and tea, which is always a plus in our book! A side tip to this, if you want an extra coffee in the morning, you can get a free cup(s) in the breakfast/food area, but ONLY during breakfast hours.
Aloft hotels will definitely not appeal to everyone, as they really cater to a younger demographic. Also bear in mind that the bar area does get quite loud and crowded on the weekends…not by hotel guests but by locals. We’ve come back on Saturday night and it was really crowded and no space for us to grab a drink.
They are also by no means luxurious although the rooms are really nice and have everything we need. We stay here as the location is very convenient to everything we need in Stuttgart and we usually can find decent rates if we book far enough in advance.
A nice benefit for us is that we receive free drink vouchers since we are Starwood Gold members and always enjoy a drink at the bar when we return in the evening. The people watching is always fun here!
We recommend this hotel if you are looking for a comfortable mid range hotel conveniently located in central Stuttgart.
